Case 04WEB DESIGN

Web Design & Engineering

Two venue websites, one goal: turn visitors into bookings. I rebuilt Escape This Frederick, Maryland's highest-rated escape room, in Next.js, and designed Level Up VR's site from a blank canvas in Figma before building it in Webflow.

01 Where it started

Escape This Frederick's old site was slow and lost bookings: Lighthouse scored it 52 and only 2.5% of visitors booked. Meanwhile, a new VR arcade in Frederick needed a site that felt as energetic as its games, that staff could update without a developer.

03 Process

Level Up VR, from blank canvas to bookings.

  1. Figma

An original visual system and every page, designed and iterated before any build work.

  2. Webflow

A responsive build with a CMS game catalog that staff can grow on their own.

  3. JavaScript

Custom interactions and animation only where the platform stopped short.

  4. Resova

A restyled booking widget, so browsing turns into a reservation without a jarring handoff.

04 Two sites

Built around the booking.

  1. Escape This Frederick, rebuilt from scratch

A new Next.js site with a redesigned booking flow, stronger room storytelling, and clearer calls to action. Every change came from session data, and the site took the top local search spot in the state.

  2. A waiver app that captured every guest

I wrote the venue's digital waiver application in Next.js, Prisma, and PostgreSQL, with Bookeo and Mailchimp integrations, so every player joined the marketing list. It later became Waiver Director.

  3. Level Up VR, designed to be run by staff

A Webflow build on my own Figma design, with a CMS game catalog so adding a new game takes zero developer hours, and a booking widget restyled to match.
